Colonia Roma is our home and our inspiration where the present reminds us of the past from the vibrant street of Orizaba and the well-known number 95.
In the first decade of the 20th century, Sir William Newbold, president of the Bank of London in Mexico, built and lived in a beautiful English-style casona on Calle de Orizaba at number 95 in Colonia Roma Norte. Sir William, on one of his many trips to Mexico, brought with him yellow bricks made in England, these served as a counterweight for the boat, these bricks were used for the construction of la casona; for this simple fact the hotel bears the name Brick.
The history of the Brick is inscribed on the hall floor from the original doors of the house, which are large and heavy and show the beauty and delicacy of an English country house style that carries the front and interior of the home. The building dates from the early twentieth century, and the present alteration honors the house’s history and legacy.
The property’s main restaurant Cerrajería has become another of the city’s “must-visit” destinations, with a focus on the art of hosting, excellent cuisine, a wine selection, and drinks tailored to complement food and moments at the table. Brick Hotel is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World collection.
